Site is reborn

After 8 months of being default, the site is back and is lonelier than ever.

With a low point of one writer, the site is looking to re-staff and progressively bring itself back to it’s original state.

As founder, I take full responsibility for the downfall of the site as I as much as others lost interest.

However since then I have acquired more disposable income, more disposable time and more knowledge of the gaming industry.

Hopefully there will also be a noticeable different between my previous writing attempts and my current posts as my skill as a writer has grown from working for other websites and newspapers.

The Gamers Inquest is back!

Return of the sick

Hello staff and fans of the site. I am happy to announce my return to the site after a bad holiday experience which left me in a foreign country without a return flight. First of all I would like to announce that my articles are going to begin to continue flowing this week.

Sorry to all from me. Well done James and Tim for continuing the site whilst I was stranded in Turkey.

DC Universe Online Update 2 is Out Now

Earlier this week producer Wes Yanagi issued a letter on DCUO site explaining the delay on the 2nd Update. The update came out on 4/5 in North America on the PS3 and PC with Europe soon to follow though no date has been confirmed at this time. I have to say with this much updated content delivered in each update I think we can cut them a little slack. There is a massive amount of new content to play and explore in the game.

Here’s the run down taken directly from the DCUO site:

Update Two: Heads or Tales?

What Does Fate Have In Store For You?
Hope you’re feeling lucky! With its second update, DC Universe™ Online offers a new set of challenges and opportunities to players willing to try their luck on new adventures, episodes and intense combat missions.

Two-Face Mission Series
The Penguin has created a vast smuggling operation bringing together some of the most notorious criminals in Gotham City. Two-Face, aka Harvey Dent, has enlisted you as muscle to put the Penguin out of business. Will Two-Face help or hinder your progress with the flip of his coin?

The Batcave: Brainiac Sub-Construct Raid
You and your teammates will fight even deeper into the heart of The Batcave where Brainiac has entrenched his horrific technology. It will take a legendary effort to rescue Batman from the OMAC Virus (twisted technology designed to stop meta humans), defeat the mighty Avatar of Technology and topple the Braniac Construct itself. This level 30 raid promises to bring a brand new challenge to your League and the opportunity for awesome loot!

Special Event: Mxyzptlk‘s Mischief
A mysterious prankster from the 5th Dimension, Mr. Mxyzptlk is up to his old tricks in Metropolis.

Collect Luck Tokens: You don’t have to be lucky to get these tokens, but will have to endure the constant shenanigans of Mr. Mxyzpltk.

New Appearance Items: Use tokens to dress in the finest Celtic clothing available!

Drinks on the House: Have a round on Mr. Mxyzpltk! Special drinks available for purchase with tokens will temporarily improve your stats.

New Collections: Chase a new Four-Leaf Clover collection and unlock a lucky reward.

New Race: Run races like never before! Dodge distractions and pranks requiring cunning and concentration.

Additional Features:

Legends PvP: Take on other players as Two-Face himself! Use the advantage of Two-Face’s dual personalities and choose between the benevolent Harvey Dent or murderous Two-Face, each with different abilities. Wield a machine gun, throw grenades, or call in goons to help take out your opponents. Heads or tails? Both can be just as deadly with this new character.

New Social Enhancements: Now, finding your friends and League are even easier with the latest enhancements we’ve made to the Social interface!

Uncover the New Gang War Alert Combat Episode: Experience a brand new low level 20’s mission series. Track down the infamous Intergang and prevent the prophecy of the Crime Bible from coming to pass!

Green Lantern Duo: Find out if two heads are better than one this month as you join with a partner to battle Sinestro and his Yellow Lanterns or John Stewart and his Green Lanterns. Will Fear rule the day or will your Willpower overcome? Grab a friend and find out in this new Level 30 Duo!

DC Universe Online March Update, Coming Soon?

Since March is almost over I had planned to report on the update after the release, but it looks like this won’t be coming until April after all. Too bad, since much of the content is oriented around “chance” specifically focused on Character of the Month Two-Face among other DCU characters. Well lucky for us, Newsarama has provided some detail as to what we can expect in this update.

Apparently the Penguin is about to make his move to take over Gotham. You have to align yourself with Two-Face to stop Penguin fowling things up in a new mission. It doesn’t matter if you are a hero or villain since Two-Face represents both sides of the coin. And as a bonus, there will be robot penguins to content with as you try to defeat the big bird.

As with Catwoman in the previous update, Two-Face will be available as a playable character in Legends PvP.

Another character that plays into the belated St. Pats theme will be the leprechaun of the DCU Mr. Mxyzptik. Players will follow rainbows to find Mr. M. as a random encounter. Completing missions will unlock thematic appearance and other rewards.

We’ll also see an encounter with an OMAC Batman in the third Batcave Raid. He is Brainiac’s “Avatar of Tech” a transforming robot boss whom you have to battle for control of the tech aspect exobytes, for a part of Brainiac himself.

Appropriately Green Lantern’s “Ring War” will get some expansion for all the ring slingers in the DCU Online including new ring constructs and boss fights with Kilowog or Arkillo.

There will be some technical upgrades including moving some PDA functions around to improve the interface. Team formation utilities gets moved to the league tab, and dedicated text and voice tabs will be added. You won’t be able to auto-fill you place if you a dropped from a raid. Instead you will have a chance to be reinvited to a mission. A voting system will now be in place to kick a player from a group. A new spatial chat allows players to voice chat with other player in close proximity. And at last there will be an update to the auction house interface.

So that is all we have so far. Still no exact date for when this update will drop, but we’ll be sure to report it here with the full details of all the new DCU Online goodies.

Japan Earthquake update

I know this is a video gaming site, but I feel I need to mention the japan earthquake and give the people of japan my deepest respects. For those of you who don’t know, there has been a major earthquake in the pacific ocean. The earthquake has reached 8.9 magnitude and is the 6th worst earthquake to be recorded in the world.

32 people have died because of the earthquake. Many more are injured, missing or buried under the rubble of buildings in and around japan. A nuclear plants cooling system has broke down, no radiation was release though. Also an oil refinery has burn down causing extreme pollution and problems for japan. See picture below.

The earthquake set off a Tsunami which is said to be 10 meters high (33ft). It is traveling across the north east of japan at the speed of a jumbo jet.

Other countries are making arrangements. Hawaii is in danger of being flooded by the Tsunami, they have evacuated coastline communities. Australia, Indonesian Islands, New Zealand, America, Alaska, Mexico, South America and many other countries are getting ready for if the Tsunami. Best wishes to them.

Lastly I want to give my sincere condolences to the people in japan, I am praying for you. Also I advise everybody who reads this to turn on their TV and watch the live updates. Some of the stuff they say may be aimed at you or someone you know.
